Heippa! I have just submitted my Master’s thesis, stitched and bound, printed out in 4 copies, supplied with half a dozen mandatory forms and generally nice and colourful. Never mind the content – the thingie even has a thick plastic case to go with. My thesis rocks!
The airBaltic flight from Riga to Helsinki this morning was 1.5hrs delayed. Every passenger got a 2Ls voucher on coffee in the meantime… so much for getting up at 4:30am. Sick as it is, I started recognising some individuals on the plane. Flight attendants are almost family by now, obviously…
This is my last time in Helsinki in a loooong time. Viimeinen kerran Suomessa! Freak as I am, I have fallen back in love with Finland. Excellent timing, as I am about to leave the country for(almost)ever. The reason for my rekindled passion? None, perfectly irrational, female, illogical, I adore Finland, etc. I recommend everyone a visit. After a few years, the country just grows on you (not like mould, ok).
At sunrise today, I left behind Riga – mourning over an 11:0 crash courtesy of the Canadian ice hockey team. Guys, this is Canada, I know – but you really could have scored for prestige. Last minute luggage adjustments included withdrawing the Latvian flag from my bag… why bother? They will be out in no time (P.S. I still love you, guys – too late to fly back for my red-white-red flag).
Also, what a drag that I will be in Helsinki until 23 May and will miss the ice hockey quarters, semis and finals. The atmosphere in Riga is superb… even Finnish fans could not make it any better if they wanted to.
