If this is global warming, then I have no objections. What a wonderful autumn season in Frankfurt, Germany! Every morning when I come into the office on the 13th floor, the sun shines straight into the face. Mmmm. Half an hour until the colleagues start slowly crawling in, the floor is all mine and the computer screen (reflecting anything but a working individual) is pale with the playful sun. Moments of true happiness.
Routine can be beautiful. Alarm clock at 7 a.m., Müller Reis for breakfast, shower, BBC World News, Strassenbahn to Willie-Brandt Platz / EZB (“Umsteigen zu der U-Bahn der Linien U1, U2 oder U3”), walk through the waking park with faded roses, beep my card, enter the lift, and watch Frankfurt spreading at my feet. Print off the latest Factiva news run on European utilities (still addicted), check mail, upload photos, read Martin Lukes’ column (Thursdays only, alas), and then the work takes over. This slow transition to work is an absolutely preferred way. Not the work that hits right into your face.
Just wish the sun would always be shining like today.
